Metal Card Unboxing: First Look at the TXBFI Metal

We designed a physical product that matches the quality of our software.

The materials

A premium card should feel substantial. The TXBFI Metal card is machined from a single sheet of 304-grade stainless steel. It weighs exactly 44 grams. This makes it significantly heavier than a standard plastic debit card. We opted for a matte black physical vapor deposition coating. It resists fingerprints and scratches. The card edge features an exposed green steel detail, providing a sharp visual contrast when sitting in your wallet. Every detail is intentional.

The unboxing experience

We stripped away unnecessary packaging. Your card arrives in a rigid, minimalist black folio. There are no thick manuals or promotional flyers. When you pull the tab, the folio slides open to reveal the card set in a precision-cut foam insert. A single QR code sits below the card. You scan it with your phone, authenticate via the TXBFI app, and your card is active. The entire process from opening the package to making your first swipe takes less than thirty seconds.

Technical specifications

Many metal cards struggle with contactless payments because steel blocks radio frequencies. We engineered a custom dual-interface module. The front of the card is pure steel, but the back incorporates a discreet composite layer that houses the NFC antenna. This means your tap-to-pay works instantly at any terminal. You do not need to insert the chip unless the merchant requires it. The card also features laser-engraved details on the back, keeping the front face completely clean.

How to order yours

The Metal card is available when you complete your Metal tier registration. You pay a one-time $1,000 card deposit — which is your lifetime access fee, not a charge you pay repeatedly. Once you verify your shipping address, we engrave and ship your card. Processing takes two business days. We ship globally using expedited courier services. While you wait, your virtual TXBFI card is active immediately for Apple Pay and online purchases.
